Edit Metadata

Set the title, author, subject and keywords stored inside your PDF.

About this tool

PDF metadata — the title, author, subject and keywords stored invisibly in the file — powers search indexing, document management systems and the title shown in browser tabs. Edit Metadata lets you set these fields to accurate, professional values in seconds.

It's also a privacy tool: files often carry the original author's name or internal draft titles that you may not want to share externally.

How to use Edit Metadata

1

Add your PDF file

Drag and drop the document.

2

Fill the metadata fields

Set title, author, subject and comma-separated keywords.

3

Download the updated PDF

The new metadata is embedded in the file.

Frequently asked questions

Where does PDF metadata appear?
In file properties dialogs, browser tab titles when viewing the PDF, search engine indexing, and document management systems.
Can I clear existing metadata?
Fields you fill in replace the old values. To blank a field, enter a space — or leave fields empty to keep existing values.
Why does my PDF show a strange title in the browser?
The creating application probably stored an internal name as the title. Setting a proper title here fixes what readers see.
